5 out of 5 stars - Teacher Approved!

This is a great book for middle and high school readers, but also enjoyable for adults as well. The mysterious beginning hooks students, then as the story develops they are unable to put it down. Even though it is fantasy-based all young adults can relate to the book's themes. This is the book to use to motivate young adults to read for pleasure!

If you like fairy tales and kings, queens, and adventure, then you will like this book. Katya's parents are fighting about sending Katya back to her kingdom. Her dad leaves her in the portal meadow with Trevon, who is her guide. During their travels, Trevon kept her safe and watched her at all times. They had to go through different and difficult terrain to make it to the castle. Trevon and her mother Forna tried to warn Katya about certain dangers but she didn’t listen to the warnings.
It was a really interesting read, I liked the characters (but not the kissing so much), but I think it is a good book for someone my age.

4 out of 5 stars - Anxiously waiting for the next book...

If you like a fast paced mystery full of funny characters and a little romance thrown in then you will really enjoy this book. It's a quick read geared toward teens but adults would enjoy it too. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
